    Almost all camera's publish an interpolated mpxl number, which means that after a certain amount the pixels are inserted digitially and don't actually add to the picture quality.

    I am guessing the real mpxl rating is somewhere around 8 for this camera, but it isn't published.

      This has been my experience, I should have been more clear. What gets sent to the app is not going to change based on your settings. But you will have higher card quality pic. The HD request function is the only way to get better looking photos on the app alone
