I have a giant old Huisache back behind my barn. It is not showing any signs of life yet. I find it hard to believe the cold could kill a tree that survived the freezes in the 80’s. Kendall county.

Some of it might be dead but I have seen plenty of it this week that have new growth. I cut an old majestic huisache down the other day and started milling it into lumber. It is some beautiful wood similar to mesquite but very dense and heavier. As heavy as it is, it’s probably mostly water and will take a while to dry. It was over 20 inches wide .

Have cut some huisache roots/root balls in the past and it’s incredible how hard that %$# is. Pretty stuff though.
