IMO they should completely shut coastal fishing down from state line to state line for at least a year, and 2 years would be even better.....
Growing up here on the Texas coast it is sad to see what it has become over the years.... More and more boats, more and more "guides" and far less fish.. history has proved that Humans can and will destroy any resource if left unchecked..

In our area it didn't really affect the redfish. I only saw a couple of dead ones.

everyone seems to think that female fish are now targeted...

I'm skeptical of this thinking even though it sounds logical to me, why would tpwd enact something that would target the females you would think biologists might know more than tbh fishologists... please splain yourself guys?

i mean males do grow larger than 15 inches so if you catch a 17 inch trout I figure its a 50-50 chance its a female

according to this avg male is 19!

Always more of the same. TPWD comes out with some regulation change. Don't explain the scientific basis (if there even is one), just change the rules. A real study on the fishery, limits set based on real data, and cracking down on the bubbas and no speakies disregarding all the rules would be a good start, but I got a better chance of winning the lottery.

Once limits are reduced, they never go back. There are a whole lot of elitists who would love to make all fishing catch and release.

Though I have noticed you aren't posting many pics of nice fish on the cleaning tables lately...
Thank you sir. Not many piles to take pics of. Since the freeze we have released a lot more fish and I have had more folks just keep a few for dinner and release the rest. And I've had a couple slow trips as well due to fronts. I like the grip and grins better anyway. Dead piles sell trips but I am going to try to get by without them and keep encouraging C&R.

Going back to the reduced limits, I was very surprised that the 5 fish limit didn't hurt the guide business. It has not but I sure think dropping it much lower will start to. Of course people still pay way more money to go pull 4 red snapper off the bottom so who knows.

Yes sir, I had state water snapper regs in mind but you are exactly right. Folks even line up to go catch 2 snapper each.

Please show me the biologist in the above list of Commission members?? TPWD does have biologists, but they're useless as tits on a boar hog... They do good work and they work hard at collecting data/statistics on our resources only to be ignored by the Commission!! The commission is made up of business executives with all kinds of business experience in the oil patch, transportation industry, and even a lawyer or two, but not one biologist in the bunch except for maybe the last guy on the list and that's a stretch... look at his background and work experience...

All levels of government are run by idiots, mostly idiots who pander to other idiots that hold public office. That sums up the TP&W board perfectly.
