I try to keep it around 30-45 mph in 4H if roads are good enough to go faster I probably don’t need to be In 4x4

        4x4 vs 2x4 is a night & day difference

Not true at all. 4wd keeps you straight and gets you going in the road conditions we have seen over the last few days. Hell, I saw several 2wd's not able to make it up into a parking lot.

The answer is to not drive unless necessary, etc. My wife's parents lost power early on so we had to make a trip across Houston to bring them to our house. I felt fine in the conditions in auto/4-hi. From what I saw that trip would have been really dangerous and taken twice as long in a RWD only.

If you have 4wd there is no reason to not keep it there when the roads are iced/covered in snow.

Stopping is the big challenge in these conditions and that just takes some care and common sense. From what I have seen over the cold spell both care and common sense are lacking for most drivers.

              I didn’t listen. I have 4wd. Lol

My old '74 did not have a 2wd option. It had a manual linkage to the transfer case and only had H N L. With the lockers in the diff's, when it spun, it spun em all. Got kind of hairy (and fun) on ice.

Yep. My truck tops out at 108 in 1/4 mile after the tune. Putting out 480hp to the flywheel. Launch in 4wd auto or 4h depending on surface.
