Deer Processor near Katy

I am going to be boning out 4 deer tomorrow that my dad and I shot at Choke Canyon Calliham unit tomorrow. I’m going to save the steaks and back straps.

Is there a processor you would recommend near by that would take boned out meat to turn into sausage? We have plenty of grind and are both wanting some quality link sausage (jap and cheese, summer sausage, etc)

I have never taken a deer to a processor so I have no clue on cost either what do you believe 4 deer worth of “grind” meat will cost?

Midway meat market is closest. Bellville meat market is better quality but further out. Those are the top two that come to mind for me.

Took a deer to Midway years ago and didn’t like the way they handled the meat. Kinda gross. Never went back. It may have changed by now though.

This is a solid option also. They been around a long time.


OP it really depends on what you have done but I’d guess around the 200$ mark for all sausage. Maybe a little more or maybe a little less.

Prasek's in Sealy, Bellville Meat Market, or Arnold's in Hempstead. Stay away from Midway. Nothing has changed.

Jr's in Wharton is hard to beat for sausage and they only grind your deer.

I'd never take anything to Midway and I grew up with them. Had too many friends work there that saw how the processing was handled.
