The politics is all that I’d worry about with that many people in the same club. Having 300 acres a piece would be more than enough, I would think. It would be a task for one guy to kill enough off 300 acres up here.

One of my good friends is in a club that I believe has 25 spots and is ~6k acres with probably half that being wooded. There’s about 15 serious deer hunters in the bunch, and they all kill their 150 every year and have very little (no definitely not ZERO) drama. Most of their squabbling is over duck hunting!

Smart, you aint wrong. I get what you are saying. I have been on a couple of large leases. One was great! Got off due to raising lease prices, wish I was still on it. The other was as you say, but the problem was with the lease manager, not the members. One yoke making all the calls. The point is, the perfect lease with perfect members doesn't exist.

15000acres, 50 hunters, 300acres per hunter, I would be on that one like a duck on a June bug. A lease that large will have multiple roads and access points, should be no issue with everybody driving by one spot. If it is geared for bowhunting? It will be an awesome lease. Bowhunters are a little different than gun hunters( uh oh, I said it), as in considerate. At least my observation.

I've been on two big leases, both have been exactly like this.In my experience the more people, the more problems!

I am on one with over 60 members. It has a president, board, pasture rider, stand committee, water, elec, and mgt rules. It is what you make it. I have been chasing a nice 12 with a drop tine all season. Had him patterned pretty well. He walks out with a doe broadside at the hunter’s setup near mine. He had never seen the deer. I have hundreds of pics of him. Old guy nailed him. As soon as I heard the shot at 8:10am I knew it had to be old drop tine. He was normally sneaking through my area about then. Just never know what will walk out on a good E Tx lease.

And how many times are all 60, or even close to all 60 people are out hunting at the same time? I hunted 3k acres with 20 guys and rarely ever saw another hunter that wasn't in my group.

Its best to go look it over and see what they are about. Look at camp, rules, stand placements, talk with others on it....etc..

I would guess if you had a really good manager and great set of enforced rules it might be ok. Do you get your own personal 300 acre area?

I see all the posts of hunting 5 acres or 3 guys hunting 25 acres. So you’ve got plenty acreage.

I’d be a lot more concerned with 49 people I didn’t know hunting with me. It’s as much about the camp experience for me as the hunting.

I don't call these kind of places "a lease".
Around here, we call'em Hunting Clubs!!!
It's all gonna depend on how it's run.
My little brother is on one. I want to say he said about 40 people on 3000+ acres. He doesn't hunt it as far as animals go. He's on it strictly for arrowhead digging. This place isn't ran very well according to him. He waits till season is over, then he goes in and digs.

Lot of good info on both sides of the coin.
Main thing is how it is setup. Do you get a parcel of property to hunt as you want or a number of stands.
Bowhunting friendly, unless you are a gun hunter.
Rules...if they have a "novel" of rules, I would pass.
                      The spots that are available.
If you could get in touch with a former member and pick their brain, that would be helpful

Never. First month you may see the same serious 20 hunters. Many join the lease yearly because pe-paw and daddy were on it for years. They fill feeders on Labor Day like many Texans do only to never return after opening weekend.

I would rather be on a large lease with less people
