I look forward to building a few. I’m sure hoping that the 26 inch height will keep them out. It doesn’t hurt that the 52 inch panels are cheaper than the 34 inch hog panels either. It will sure be nice to have a few spots that I can feed without hog competition. They are getting worse every year in netx

Those of you that just pour corn in you feed pens and don’t use a feeder. How often and how much do you feed?

I don’t have pens but still relevant to your question.
I’m in the hill country and also hunt some in East Tx and in both places I only put corn out when I’m going to be sitting in that stand. I always have deer on the corn in a few hours.

I put 4 sacks my last day at the lease. It normally lasts 10-14 days depending on activity.

I’ve never understood how this would work. Normally I will scatter a bag or two over a small area and give it a day or two before I hunt it. I can’t imagine putting it out the same day I hunt

If there is a good deer population it will work.

I use about 5 bags a year typically
Deer population just west of Austin is pretty thick. On the ETX place I know a typical corridor they use to go from one place to another so that’s probably why it work there

Lots of people have good success with it. I don’t think we have the deer numbers where I’m at. I wish I could get by with 5 bags a year lol

T posts and a roll of goat wire should work.

I have 2 MASSIVE feeder pens, 1 feeder in each one. They are roughly 330' worth of fence. I am shrinking them down this year to 32'x32' square. I am also going to run corn/protein year round as well this year. We'll see what happens.

I have 3 spots in mind at the moment. I know exactly where the deer bed. It’s nasty thick, I just have to figure out how close I want to build them to the bedding.

Just don't build them to close or you'll burn that bedding area. I have deer bedding on my farm in a thick area I call the "sanctuary" and we never step foot in it, and my feeder pens are currently 100 yards plus away from it.

I believe the bigger the better and keep them round. That said, I was on one lease that I say a 4 sided square pen with just 4 panels. Didn't measure it but didn't look like a lot of room for deer in that pen.

I get around 7,000 pics per week on some of my 16x16 pens. Deer are eating from a pile any way.
