I have a 2003 Sportsman 500 HO that I'm going to probably put in an auction next year and hope to get $1500 for it. That is with new $500 6 ply tires and sealant in them. Not to mention a rebuilt carb and front drive axle replacement. Maybe someone at the auction will go to 2k as it is a very clean machine for its age.

Yeah I don’t see it bringing near 2,000$ unless someone wants one for nostalgia sake. I had a 1995 350 magnum 4x4 chain drive that would fowl a plug every 100 yards seems like. I picked up a barn find 1997 Kawasaki bayou 400 2 years ago. Paid 200$ for it and wouldent have gave over 300. I was surprised to see what they were going for when a couple were in the classifieds

I did miss the part about the tires earlier, so I'm going to adjust my value to $1200-1700. All depends how fast you want it moved. It will sell in less than a day on Facebook marketplace for $1200. Real world experience of owning and selling them is where my value comes from, not using NADA or KBB for my values!

That said - those of you that claim it is worth $800, please send me some good shape, running machines at that price as I'd love an easy flip right now. It should be easy for you to find me some by the end of the week if that is what they are worth.

You just have to look constantly....

I just found one on FB that (03) that was dang near perfect with fancy wheels and tires for $2k. Buddy of mine picked up a very nice grizzly 4x4 from about the same era just before xmas from another hunting forum for $1k.

              Exactly. You proved my point.

If you have to look constantly for a $800 machine, then that means that is not the going rate for them. That means the ones at that priced like that are a good deal and sell quickly, hence the need to look constantly for them. If the going rate is $800, I should be able to find multiple machines in that price range quickly.

I know good deals are out there, trust me. I have owned more machines than I can count, but the number is in the 40+ range - but to find those deals, like you said - it was a constant search (usually refreshed craigslist every 30 minutes or so).

I didn't prove your point but you've got a handle on the market so I'll let it go.

I replaced the fuel pump and decided that was it and put it in a equipment/farm auction with a $1500.00 bottom on it. It was running great and I was at around $700 in new parts for it. I got lucky and two people really wanted it. It ended up selling for $2,800.00. To say I was pleasantly surprised, would be an understatement.
