Sweet, I use to catch them all the (snagged or just plain wrapped up in the line) in the Red River below the Denison Dam. It was illegal in Texas to keep them, but across the river in Oklahoma, you could.

Lots of those is Red river below Texhoma spillway. People used to snag for them till it became illegal. As a kid we knew them as shovel bill catfish although they are probably are more kin to a Baskin shark. I have eaten these years ago and they are pretty good and have almost no bones, just a cartilage for a spine. We caught them in the river north of Bonham when they would snag themselves on our trotlines.

AWESOME FISH but you striper fish with 8lb line??? Is that 8# braided line??? Do you folks get into the 20+" stripers down there????

I like to make it a challenge.... I watched 4 guys catch stripers that were each pushing 20 pounds.
