I’ve got a 2010 Tundra, 5.7, 4x4 with 127K miles on the clock. If you’ve got any light to shed on my truck’s issues I’m interested.
Things seemed to start about a month ago whenever I put a new battery in the truck after mine failed to start one morning. The first crank with the new battery the truck died. The second crank it started as usual. Since then, I’ve noticed my torque converter can’t seem to decide if it wants to stay locked or not under a light load. If I punch it it works just fine, and if I’m driving flat on the highway it works just fine. I’ve also noticed slight soot buildup on the back of the truck above my tailpipe which it’s never done. Also strange is that my gas mileage has gone from worse to even worse.
Last week I got a good deal on some tires so I went up from 33” to 35” and that’s exacerbated the issue. I’m assuming that has more to do with my speedometer being of now.
My truck also had 33” tires on it whenever I bought it, and my speedometer was dead on with GPS so I assume so Elbe has corrected it before.
It still doesn’t start as great as it used to, seems to hesitate.
I’ve cleaned out my throttle body, cleaned the MAF, and put a new air filter also since this all started.
