according to a little google search, looks like tx has grown 45% from 2000-2019, and wy 20% during that time. percentage wise, the growth is more than double in tx, so not really the same.. but i understand. it really eats me up when someone from ca/ny sells some crap hole for 500k, and buys a nice place here, then tells all of us texans how great it was back home...

and to be honest, after our 1st wy pronghorn hunt, i fell in love with your state. been trying to get my wife to agree to moving there when i retire in 9. but she is a skinny one, and already hates stx winters.. we could have one heck of a place up there if we unload everything here..just like the ca's do!!

Are there any liberal states/cites that aren't entirely screwed up?

It seems to me that if the liberals are in charge it is going to be completely mismanaged and about as screwed up as possible - maybe I'm wrong.

But if I'm right, you'd almost think people could look around and figure, 'Now we have a shining example of how not to do things!' - Right?

And it also seems that no amount of negative results can ever equate to - Liberal Policies don't Work. But again, they don't seem to be especially good with money, it's only tax dollars after all plenty more where that came from!

I've told the story on here before, but as teenagers we took a trip to Europe. We were at the Louvre sitting next to some Swedish guys who were drinking rather heavily. They asked where we were from and we said the US. They just nodded and didn't have much reaction. One asked where at in the US. When we said Texas they got excited and started toasting beers. Was pretty funny.

My thoughts as well---they aren't fleeing the liberal policies as much as the high cost of living and state income taxes.

I came across the green screen a couple years ago, I'm a rifle hunter (never bow hunted in my life). After reading many of the posts I just felt like I was hanging with my kind of people.
I'm born and raised in So. California (unfortunately still here). My father was from Missouri and my mother from Minnesota. They ended up in California (Military) so I didn't have any say in it. We grew up fishing and hunting and goin to church. Out of high school a good buddy (married a Tx gal) was stationed at Ft. Hood, I came to visit and hunt once and I was hooked on Texas. I brought my brother one year and he was hooked as well. Several years ago we purchased some property and will eventually move to live here. We don't want to change anything about Tx. We love it just as it is.
California has so many problems, State employee pensions are out of control, paying for the medical and education of illegal immigrants, corrupt welfare programs, homeless issues to name a few not to mention, **** pour personal decision making by many.
When I am in Texas it's usually in one of the small towns and it feels like heaven, It kills me to drive into the big cities. Honestly Austin seems worse than So. Cal some times. The liberal California politicians make the same promises every year to no avail (as they do all over the country).
Anyhow, that's just one Californians point of view. I wish I had more answers!
                      Time for a 2nd whiskey!
                      Be good and "kill pigs"

Great post. Welcome to the campfire here. I was stationed at Camp Pendleton. As I Texas native, I recognized all the beauty that California held...from the beaches in the south to the forests in the north. I just couldn't believe the politics, taxes, etc. What a waste of an awesome place.

I’m So Sorry 100% My Fault , since my wife and I started traveling with work, 8 yrs ago, every State and town we visit we complained about no TEXAS style BBQ, about how it’s above all the rest, so it began, again I apologize.

We lived right in the middle of 7 million people in Arlington. We had enough of the craziness. We bailed to our farm in Iowa. Our only regret is that we were not able to do it sooner. We see about 5 vehicles a day. About 1/2 of those are tractors. We have not heard a siren or seen an emergency vehicles since we have been here (2 years). It is like going back in time about 50 years.
