    Cover scent

Just curious what everyone on the green screen uses for cover scent? Im having an issue with scent control in the spot im hunting. What seems to work the best for everyone here?

Nose Jammer, Anise, Skunk oil, Trichloroethylene, Imitation Vanilla & grape koolaid.

I’ve used Nose Jammer for about 6 years and it works. I have found through various trials that
Spraying it about 100-300 yards upwind from you at 50 yard intervals crosswind as a blow-over works the best and my results when doing this have been awesome. The directions say using it on your shoe soles and around you, I find this doesn’t work so much. I don’t like spraying it around me because then I have to smell more of it. I’ve watched hogs, coyote, and deer walk the same path I walked into the stand smelling the ground when I use it on my soles.

If you put powdered Trichloroethylene on the trail, it kills most animal’s smell for about two hours.

I’m a firm believer in it while others aren’t. I do know for a fact it confuses the olfactory system especially when coupled with skunk.

I sometimes when hunting deer spritz vegetation on the way in with a bottle of imitation vanilla and a half pack of grape koolaid in a spray bottle. It is more of an attractant but works great when coupled with the nose jammer, and skunk junk. This mixture is like fairy dust to deer but don’t do nuthin for other animals.

The only thing I do for me is use unscented laundry detergent and a cedar soap and unscented antiperspirant. There is no escaping an animal’s nose, just overloading it. Thats if they are in the mood to care in the first place, I thing being still is most important.

If you hunt over a corn feeder, store your clothes in a corn sack.

If you've got cedar in the area, cut off a couple small branches and store your clothes in the same bag as the cedar. Twist/bend/crumple the cedar to really release the scent. Or just rub fresh cedar all over you when you get to your hunting spot. I don't like doing it cause I hate the smell, but it sure does work if you're having trouble getting busted.

Put fresh composted leaves and earth from the woods in a pillow case and store your clothes in the same bag. Earth smell. Cedar works better IMO. You can do a combination of both, and you'll smell just like the woods.

How do you use this mixture? Spray as you walk in and around your stand?

Skunk, cheap and easy. Don’t get on fingers, I just grab some grass, dip, and throw on ground

Someone on here posted about Vanilla extract mixed with water I have been spraying that on me for a couple years. I had a doe and spike follow my trail licking the grass and the steps to the blind once.

Just go shoot a skunk before the hunt and throw him right under your tree stand.

exactly, and even spray it on me. Lately, I've been spraying it on my hunting clothes. and, on my cloth mask, as it keeps me from gagging on my bad breath.

I keep an old metal coffee can in the blind and a bag with leaves, moss small twigs in it. As soon as i get in i light a small amount it fills the blind up with smoke i never have a problem.
