We had the move star Mike Boon of Hardin Co. stop by camp the other day. He just wanted to remind everybody that the are not supposed to ride on the County roads. Stay on the shoulder. I started to ask him for his autograph. LOL

      re wardens

About 9 years ago while still on active duty, i spent a weekend on the ranch.
it was the special whitewing season, webb county. and i remember it was a sunday morning. My cousin had trapped some pigs and shot them, left me two on my hanging rack. So i went to skinning them, a lit bit later, a shiny game warden truck pulls up the road, and then it happened. The younger warden
got out, walked up to me and asked if i shot those pigs, I said nope,
i was sleeping in and they just jumped up on those hooks. The older warden busted a gut, as did i. After a few minutes he thanked me for my service. We talked and found out that someone behind our place was shooting doves at sunrise, but it would have a long walk to those ranches. He never came back to visit me after that. I respect what they do.

If you have the $$ to purchase a lifetime hunting and fishing license, I've seen it multiple times. You bought yourself a free pass from harassment for life. I've dealt with really friendly one's and guys that have bad attitudes. Was on a pheasant hunt in the panhandle once, and was hunting with a bunch of docs. A couple of a brand new Wardens fresh out of the Academy had been watching us from a distance with binoculars as we cleaned the birds. We were just skinning the birds, and leaving a leg attached for sex identification. They made the mistake of thinking we were breasting the birds. They come rolling up, and one of the wardens jumps out, and says "Looks like we have a problem here fella's. He was ready to write everybody up. There was like 30 of us in the group and these are all doctors and clinic staff our pharmacist from the clinic had invited on the hunt. We had done nothing illegal, and the other young warden had to cool the hot head down after they realized they made a mistake. They went ahead and checked everybody and did ticket a couple of guys for not having their upland game bird stamp. They just had the attitude that they were about to make a big bust, because it was 30 guys with a limit of birds. They came across as two guys they really didn't have much experience. They lined us all up like we were criminals. The doctors that had lifetime hunting license were allowed to continue cleaning birds or go back to there rooms.

I've been ticketed by the GW twice. Both times were for failure to have my fishing license on my person, I have a bad habit of leaving it in the truck

2nd time was after I purchased my lifetime H/F license. My argument of "I'm alive therefore I have a license" didn't work

I'm glad to hear they are patrolling Erath County. I've had 99% good experiences with them. The 1% were rookies and to be expected, they are figuring things out and it takes time.

                Good to hear.
The Texas Game wardens I have met have all been very cool. Some are celebrities now.
Just know your game laws and you should always have no problem.

I am 66 and used to work for TPWD in the Fisheries Section. Spent a lot of time riding around with Game Wardens when they needed a second person to witness. Ran into a LOT of Azz-hole hunters & fishermen. Especially on the coast around Galveston. You guys need to understand that they can't check everyone but try to check those that something seems to be not right.

Walk a mile in their shoes and you would understand. Yes, I did stupid stuff in my youth and exceeded limits. Haven't in almost 40 years and have been checked more times than I can count.

Y'all have good luck this season.

I want to hear more about the hour and a half shooting the bull with the female game warden. Sounds like a date to me.

They stopped while I was at my truck locking the ranch gate on a caliche road in Erath county. They were very pleasant and professional. They shined their flashlight at my tailgate, but that was about the extent of their investigation. We shot the $hi+ for about 5 minutes, asked about who owned the land and if I leased it and then I asked if they wanted to see my license. After telling me to sign the back of my license they said have a good night and drove off. While I was walking back to the truck I remembered how law enforcement have been tread by some in this country lately, so I stopped, turned around and told them I appreciate what you do and they said thank you. Very pleasant encounter.
Congrats, you ran into some nice ones.

Back in my 20's in Montana I bought some nice button up shirts at a garage sale. I guess they were owned by a retired warden or something. The first time I wore one out and about I stopped at the gas station and a guy scrambled to get the door for me. Then the gal wouldn't charge me for my coffee. I was embarrassed and never wore them again, but it was pretty cool for a time.

I've had good and bad, I have a theory ( not original to me but I absolutely believe it), it doesn't matter what or where you go about 15% of people are a^*¥*\]s, so it stands to reason that your gonna find that many in any profession there is. So far I haven't found the evidence to disprove the theory.

I never understood why someone would do the job for what little it pays.

She must have been hot, or at least semi hot.
