I declined and stated I wasn’t hunting and they could see my DL , they both insisted I needed a hunting license while wearing camouflage, they searched my truck found no guns
But still insisted I produce a hunting license, after much discussion the senior warden finally gave me back my drivers license and said they would be back and to inform our hunters
To carry their license ( this is on a private property road)
    Really left a bitter feeling

Names and County. If your calling them out let’s get the names and county. That way if others have an issue they can complain to a supervisor that can do something.

Not knocking any GW but in due time you will meet your share of those that less than polite, less than friendly and just a general PITA.

Wait until you meet one that wants to haul you in for carrying a concealed handgun during bow season and you have a Concealed Handgun License, that guy was an uniformed, un-informed clown.
If you are lucky, you can see one argue with the District Attorney regarding the same issue and threaten to take him to jail if he were in fact carrying a permitted handgun,,,that was funny, lol.

Maybe you can have one go through 3 guy's duck hunting gear, every shell in the waterproof cases(about 200) with a magnet, inspect the canoe and decoys for hidden lead shot and even have them take the hunter's waders off on the trail to check them too.

I know they have a thankless job and have a needed place in managing and enforcing game laws and I do appreciate what they do for the state. I have said it time and again but if we could all give up hunting and fishing for just a year in protest of all the crap we, as "legal sportsmen", have to endure, we would see some changes in the game law beauracracy and enforcement codes.

        Webb county, senior officer Cantu
Dimmit county , junior officer ? He didn’t hand me his business card
        Yes a complaint was issued
A GW should not be the fashion police
To be fair I did have some type of dried blood in my ranch truck, but possessed only hydraulic oil and hoses

I got a cell photo sent to me at 3:00AM that had 2 poachers in the pic. I called the local game warden and he climbed out of bed and arrested them.

Most of them are common sense good guys.

Way back when floundering was fun we pulled into Charlie's about 2am. 5 guys with 52 fish. Legal limit would have been 100 (2 days) saw the game warden sitting in his truck about 50yds away. We layered fish and ice in a big ice chest then the warden drove over and made us pull all the fish out and lay them on the pavement. Now I'm pi$$ed. Then he check licenses and took atleast 5 minutes studying each one. Now I'm really pi$$ed. No violations found but he was a real dip***** in my opinion

Never had a bad experience and I'm 60, but I keep the rule book with me in my backpack and always try to follow it.

Yea but you could have stashed a gun in woods if you were an outlaw. Not saying it is fine for any LE to an arse for no reason. Just have to think from their point of view sometimes to put things in context.

I got stopped yesterday morning. Game warden saw me driving through the pasture to the gate and sat and waited at the gate. He introduced himself, asked my name, who owned the land, if I saw anything, etc and bs’ed for a few minutes. Never asked for my ID or license when he knew I’d been hunting. He seems to be one of the good ones.

He didn’t know me, but he actually knows my dad pretty well due to him calling quite a bit for trespassers at work. We have a property that has two gates that the county road stops at with a two track connecting them. It’s an easement for some companies and we let a few neighbors have their own locks because it can be a 45 minute drive or so to go around. We’ve had people get company keys etc, that shouldn’t have access. One night dad is hunting and shoots a pig at dark(well after deer hunting hrs). The pig was gut shot and ran off in the thick woods where dad isn’t going after it. He gets in the truck and drives to gate A without his headlights on to avoid spooking anything. He sees headlights at gate B and someone get out, open it and drive through. So dad pulls into a little nook in the woods where you won’t see him until you’re in front of it. He’s watching the headlights as the truck goes around a back way to the gate(meaning this person has been there before). The headlights get around to dad and he throws his lights on and pulls out blocking the vehicle.

That’s when the flashing red and blues come on. They both get out and realize who each other are. GW:”Lesley, what the hell are you doing out here??” Dad:”Me? What the hell are you doing out here??” We’ve had some poaching issues in the area and the GW was in the area seeing if he’d see anyone. He heard the shot and went looking. Dad told him he shot the pig. They had a good laugh about it.

I certainly hope that's not how law enforcement works. Most anybody could be guilty of anything but its their duty to look into things when they can articulate what crime they believe is being committed. When we sign our licenses are we also signing away our 4th amendment protections? It seems that all of the bad interactions came with the guilty till proven innocent approach. I'm thankful to be in the never had a bad interaction column but know its just a matter of time no matter how astringently follow game laws.

I personally haven't had a negative encounter but shockingly haven't been checked much at all. I duck/goose hunt private property and there are better public places for them to spend their time, and we're legal so wouldn't be a good investment of time for them.

I seem to get stopped at least once a year, either on the water or going to and from my deer stand. I guess they have a problem with poaching where I hunt, but like many of you I have had nothing but good experiences. Normally they just want to know if I am seeing/catching anything. One time I didn't see anything when they stopped me and they told me they were mostly seeing deer move in the middle of the day at the time. I think most wardens know a law abiding citizen when they see one, and try to help when they can.

I’ve probably had at least ten encounters with GWs over my lifetime. Most have been brief and professional. I got one ticket for no boat cushions, (back when you had to have one for each person), and it was deserved. I simply didn’t have them because they got ruined and I hadn’t had time to get any more. He told me to go ahead and fish the rest of the day, which was good because my son and I were loading the boat with sand bass !

The only goober I ever met was one in the Davy Crockett NF. My buddy and I were going down the forest road, two shotguns in the truck, magazines loaded, chambers empty. He could see the brass in the magazines and told us to unload the guns. I started to say that the chambers were empty and he cut me off saying “I can see the “bullets” , unload them now !” Bullets ?

I always thought that chamber empty and magazine loaded was legal, maybe not.

I’ve always appreciated a law enforcement officer of any kind who was honest, friendly, and did his job. I’ve had some friends over the years that were LEOs, a local State Trooper used to shoot 3D targets at my house, and his brother, a city officer, is my taxidermist. Our sheriff for the last 20+ years I could call anytime and talk to about anything, when he was a State Trooper he gave me a speeding ticket (I was going to a defensive driving course) and we’ve been on a first name basis ever since.

Their jobs aren’t easy, and if I were doing it I’d probably be a total **** !
