That wraps up this evenings hunt. Got skunked this evening. Hopefully the new set in Linn County pays off in the morning.
More from the stand in the morning
In the new set in Linn County. Bump a couple of deer coming in so I guess we will see how this goes. Still overlooking a hardwood ridge on a creek. A lot of sign and heavy used trails.
Its about time to get serious.
More to come
Hunkered down seems to be a good word for this morning. I can see a lot of country, including about 3/4 of a mile of creek edge/cut corn field and it's dead.
So here's my current situation. Cut the string on a decent old 8 point at 720 this morning. Downhill shot and he was on a ridge line. Bleated 3 times for him to stop and he didn't. I shot. BIG Mule Kick at impact. He ran about 15 yards to a small creek. I lost him in the timber.
Gave him 35 min before tracking. Good blood found. He crossed the 1st creek and blood continued. He gets to the main creek and crosses it.
I cross the creek and only find a little blood afterwards.
After searching for about 20 min I called it to back out. I have a dog coming at 530 to hopefully find my buck. Said I wouldn't do that, but after losing a good buck last year I am doing it.
More to come later
