    Port Isabel Lodging and Eats

Going down 2/19 for a Nilgai hunt at Laguna Atascosa. Thought about staying in Port Isabel. Just wondering if anyone had any recommendations on lodging and dining.

    Thanks

For a nice inexpensive place stay at the White Sands motel and marina.

IMO the best food in PI is at Isabel's, Manuel's and Gulf Seafood(Joe's Oyster Bar). The Dirty Al's at Pelican Station is pretty good. I prefer the one on the island.

My absolute favorite italian food place is Gabriellas on the Island. Several good places on the island.

We'll be staying at the Port Isla Inn in January. I stayed there before. nice place, inexpensive and has a kitchen(no utensils though).

It is across the road from H.E.B.

Go on across the causeway. Why get that close and stop?

Dang. I'm seeing 50-75.00 a night on the island. 32.00 for Motel 6.

I'll give it another look, wasn't seeing that when I looked a few weeks ago.

I'll definitely be going across the causeway regardless. Never been in that area of the state.

I like Isabel better than Padre for lodging. If you want to go over there it’s like a 5 minute drive.

There isn't much more in Port Isabel. Tons of stuff on the island. Padre Island Brewing Company, Gabriellas, Dirty Al's, Pier 19.

If you like ceviche hit up Ceviche Ceviche. We do a lot of our own cooking while there, wasn’t blown away by any of the restaurants. Blackbeard’s is overrated. Sea Ranch isn’t bad, Pier 19.

Cap N Roys. Blackened shrimp and fish. Their fumi salad is amazing. It's like coleslaw. Nothing fancy. Good lunch spot.

Trust me, just stay on the island.

Louie's Backyard buffet is pretty good. Hard to beat self serve all you can eat crab legs. The upstairs sports bar is a good place to hang out and has good food. Try the mesquite grilled fajitas.

For a no frills beachfront motel with a tiki bar and grill try the Wanna Wanna.
