My buddy Kyle and I actually started a small tech repair service after we both lost our jobs last year. Times were tough, won't lie, but man, we've learned a ton and it's honestly going great now.
We had our share of hiccups along the way, dealing with sourcing parts, customer service, and all that jazz. Still, it's been a wild ride, but it's worth it when you see your own project flourish, y'know?

Im still here guys. Just dont get on alot. So we got back to TX. I took a job as industrial mechanic for awhile, then went back into the oilfield for awhile. Stacked up some cash and started a small mechanic shop at my house. It did decent but location killed it honestly. It was all friends and family for the most part. Last summer we got into mowing business. We already had a tractor/shredder and a trencher so we made up some cards and did anything from weekly mowing to pasture shredding, tree work, etc. We bought another mower late last summer. Bought a new skid steer in November last year. Got a mulcher, grapple, bucket, and forks for it. We stay busy doing rock/dirt work, driveways, mulching, etc. This summer we bought a John Deere 450J dozer and its starting to payoff. Several goosenecks and a single axle Freightliner to help move stuff. So.....yeah we are doin ok. Not gettin rich but we are livin and not working for the man. My sons work for me as much as they can and we are steadily bidding work. Hope to maybe buy a trackhoe at some point and dumptruck.

I'll sell you 28.5 acres, house, barns, pond and event venue, predominately weddings. There are plenty of jobs for her here, Gainesville has a youth facility........venue is turn key and we stopped booking weddings, retiring, so dates are wide open for bookings. We have all vendors, reliable ones, Security cops, planners, etc....only holding cost is insurance, advertising (we aren't very good at that) property taxes and of course mortgage. We do all the work ourselves, set up, maintenance and tear down/cleaning but that's perfect job for kids. We do not work the weddings or do the planning for them we have people that do that but couples pay them, we only organize security with cops. We have high school kids that work the weddings if they want them and they pay direct. Only ones we pay direct is if a package wedding. There is plenty of welding work available here, as well as others in your skill set, to supplement since weddings are primarily weekends. Booming area. We do tours only by appointment and use only email and text no phone calls, other than tours, so no "miscommunication".......we have realtor coming out to figure sales price, his daughter actually got married here and we used him when we bought the place over 10 yrs ago, we built venue and put in 2 acre deep pond. It's not hard work but some people can be "difficult"........we have 5 more weddings this year then we are done, 2 are back to back Friday and Saturday which is a pain for me but oh well........the majority of couples we like and even get invited to some of their weddings. We did donate venue to local youth sports club fundraiser banquet and gave area schools half off for proms, those are easy......

Even if you don't want to buy, or cannot buy, our place this is a great area with your skill sets as well as your wife's. Collinsville which is halfway between Sherman and Gainesville and near Hagerman for reference, tollway is coming about 4-5 miles away from our place. Schools are good and not massive but growing with area. Close to both Lake Texoma and Ray Roberts, creek through our property actually goes to Ray Roberts. Wife's biggest complaint is no good grocery stores close enough, that doesn't bother me, we go to Brookeshires in Pottsboro and drive back through Hagerman.

It's great to see your enthusiasm for starting a business in Texas! Given your skills and resources, pursuing dirtwork, landscaping, and fencing services seems like a promising idea. You already have the equipment and expertise, plus the potential to involve your kids as they grow older, which is a fantastic legacy.
In addition, consider exploring shared 2fa to secure your business and client information. It's essential for maintaining trust and privacy.Best of luck with your new venture, and I hope it brings you both personal satisfaction and financial success!

                  Things needed in this area:

                  1. A plumber that’s worth calling twice.

                  2. Aerobic system installation. Lots of construction and not a lot in that market.... or none with name recognition.

                  Several mechanical positions probably hiring

... and if not, I have a fabulous job opportunity for ya!!!!
I checked in the Aerobic system installation business and found that you have to work in the business for several years under someone else before you could get your license. That was several years ago.

I'm also curious as I'm interested in starting a business and would love to hear about your experience. Did you find having a solid business plan crucial from the start? Also, for reaching out to other businesses, have you explored the benefits of b2b content writing to establish connections and build your brand? I found this service https://livepage.net/services/b2b-content-writing/ and it seems to be a good way to connect with clients effectively. I've read that this can help expand my customer base. However, I'm open to other suggestions and advice.
