Hunting the new moon

Terrible hunting. You’d have better luck sitting on your couch.

Completely disagree... My favorite time to hunt bar none. Least nocturnal time.

My biggest issue is fish tend to bite then too

I hunt any opportunity given, but I prefer hunting around a full moon rather than a new moon. Just seems to be better for me.

I hear this all the time but... I have yet to experience it except maybe at peak of the rut.

Full moon if they aren't there 15 mins before feeder goes off 90% of the time they ain't coming

New moon, cold weather moving in, rut starting... I’ll be hunting all day, at least till lunch and back in early.
Should be lots of action, I’m sayin we will see some shooter bite the dust that weekend.

Time of year and cooler weather gonna trump the moon.

This is very strange. MAYBE I could understand this in the rut, but I most certainly would prefer no moon over full moon. That last full moon we had totally killed our daytime deer movement. You could watch them come in less and less on the cameras as the moon got more full.

What is your experiences? My only shot to go is next weekend. New moon on Friday the 16th. Moon will be up all day. Actually rises about an hour before sunrise and sets 10 mins after.

I love hunting the New Moon, mostly because it is up all day which is conducive to animal movement.

Curious if all these opinions about the new moon being the best time to hunt are based on personal experience or just what has been handed down from generation to generation. When planning hunts in the distant future I always use the moon to plan such a hunt but many things override the moon's effect on game including hunting pressure, weather and the breeding cycle.

Im curious about all the opinions stating the new moon is the best time to hunt. Are these opinions based on personal observation over the years or from generational knowledge? Im a big believer in planning my hunts according to moon phases but I know there are a number of factors that will override its effect. Hunting pressure, weather and breeding phase are 3 big ones that come to mind. Of course, like most, I will hunt any and every chance I get.

I love hunting the New Moon, mostly because it is up all day which is conducive to animal movement.

My second favorite is a Full Moon, best midday hunting.

The Quarter Moons are excellent if the moon is up a bit or overhead at evening time or shortly before sundown.
