That's the one that gets me...I'll be shooting doves over the same tanks I'll kill ducks. Wish there was some discretion here.

      who cares?
most hunting rules came about because of past abuses that decimated populations. I'm not one for big government but I also don't like a race to the bottom-- what some people are willing to do sickens me and ruins sport for others.

        english?
if your question is about why no lead for water fowl the water is your answer.
Also rules gotta be simple to be followed.

This thread reminded me to make a plug for my 870. I don't remember why I took it out in the first place.

            No.

Water ain't the deal. I can shoot doves, quail or cranes at the same pond as ducks. But for ducks it has to be steel

Lead shot doesn't poison water. It has to be ingested to kill birds.

4th and 5th shot would be nice to chase down cripples.

Put me in the money grab group.

Its a slam dunk as far as being an enforceable ticket with little wiggle room to weasel outta of it. It was either there or it wasn't upon citation.

Like the not being able to debone deer in camp or not filling out the back of your license with the date & ranch dates of your kill that is already filled out correctly on the tag, they nab people on all the time.

I doubt many hardcore poachers bother to get a license let alone follow all the game rules applied with having one.

Because feds make the rules on migratory game birds and the states make the rules on non migratory.

If lead in the water is the issue, we wouldn’t be allowed to use lead jigs head and weights while fishing.

Oh, and don’t forget lead decoy weights.

I bought a Chiappa Triple Crown a couple years ago. As the name implies, they are triple barrels. It is actually well made and is very balanced. I bought it for the novelty. . .and waiting to see the GW say what in the holy cornbread heck is that.

I think it is just to stay in line with the feds on the migratory birds.

In my case, they could change the law and it wouldn't do any damage to the bird population at all. I would still only get 4-5 birds a box, so whether I do it at 3 bangs a bird or 5, nothing changes.
