This year they couldn't find info on my son for his lifetime license he has had for 11 years and they couldn't find his hunter safety info. One call to the state and it was resolved. I was scared for a day.

I read this post yesterday and should have paid more attention to it. Len, I will heed your warnings in the future. Yesterday evening I went to the Academy in Lewisville for two items. A license and a holster for an old Ruger .22 that had belonged to my Dad. Looked for the holster but did not find what I was looking for. I asked the young man at the gun counter if they had one to fit my gun and he flatly said no. I went and looked some more and found one similar, pulled out my pistol, fit it in the holster and it fit very well. Then I showed it to the "help" at the counter and he said. "Well we must have got it in today". It had dust on the boxing.
Then I go to get my license. Went through all the questions after waiting 5 minutes for another young man to finish his bull session with two other employees. He folded the license and put it in the provided license holder. This morning, I pull it out to sign it. The license they gave me is issued to a guy in Vidor which is SE TX. I live in NE TX. Some other guy is walking around with the wrong license also. I should have looked at it prior to leaving the store but figured it would not happen to me.
Where do they get these clowns?

Online for me. Propably run 99.75% on getting it right and mailed out and not dealing with someone who isn't trained to issue them. Started online after it took 3 store employees waay to long several years ago. I'm sure the tight arses will complain about the $5 convenience fee, but they'll spend 20-30 minutes on getting one in a store(especially if there is a line) and B***h about it.

The times I’ve bought a license from academy, I’ve always been asked to verify the info on it and sign it before I leave the counter. I’d do it anyway besides. Gotta take a lil responsibility for that one...

Glad you caught this before you got checked by "The Man". My post was to help others that purchased their license in a retail store. Seems as though many took this as an opportunity to chastise others for not purchasing an online license, not all of us are perfect. Whether you buy online or a retail store you better check the license to make sure everything is correct because if you get checked by "The Man" you own it. Mistakes happen whether online or in-person purchase.

click a few more times, enter credit card info, click again and there is a 99.75% chance your license will show up correct.
Now, you will have to pay a small fee for being able to do this from the comfort of your office or the recliner. But hey, it beats driving to academy and getting some mouth breather that don't know come here from sick em getting your info wrong. Then youd have to drive back up to academy and wait in line to do it all over again. I guess the silver lining to that is you can start a thread about it
