    Hunting License problems at Academy

Just a reminder to check your license very good after purchase. I bought my new super combo and federal migratory stamp this past Sunday at Academy store. The girl where I had to pay for my license tried to tell me that the federal migratory stamp comes with the license. It took some explaining that the state endorsement comes with super combo but the federal endorsement does NOT come with the license. Went to another register to a guy that was working licenses. Before printing my license he verified that I wanted a super combo and federal stamp which I confirmed. I also told him to make sure it had the HIP certification and he told me it would. We chatted a little bit and it seemed as though he knew what he was doing which is not the norm nowadays. A lot of the folks they have doing licenses don't seem to know much about licenses and endorsements. I knew better but I trusted the guy and did not verify the license before I left the store. On Monday I checked the license and I realized that he did NOT credit the federal stamp on my license and did NOT give me the HIP certification that I specifically asked for. I always keep my receipt when I buy my license. So I went back to Academy yesterday with the receipt and license and they had to print another form of the license that gave me the HIP certification and the federal stamp endorsement. I know better because I have had issues in the past with people doing licenses at retailers that have no idea what they are doing. Also reading many stories of guys that got tickets because the retailer that they bought their license at did not give them the endorsements that they requested and paid for. Just passing on this info so this doesn't happen to folks on here and end up getting a citation. Check your license at purchase!!!!!

Seems like 30-45 minutes of training in this area would go along way at places like this.

I always just get it online now. Got tired of fighting academy employees. One told my son's friend he needed to buy a duck stamp for EVERY duck he killed.

That is why I went to online purchasing. On Aug 15th, in my living room, I can get exactly what I need and all (even Federal Stamp) arrive at my mailbox before September 1.

I've found the post office is best place to buy the stamp, TPWD didn't mail
Mine when I bought online. I miss the old hunting license!

Another reason (as if needed) to avoid Academy and their employees who don’t know jack-schit!

I only buy online. Too easy for the untrained to mess it up.

If they dont ask you about last years harvest history, then you dont have the HIP cert

Academy is not what it use to be. Hardly any training time spent with new employees compared to what there use to be. Customer service is not what it use to be either.

Not all post offices sell them anymore unfortunately.

I never have an issue at Academy. Walk in, tell them what I want, I pay and get it. Been buying mine there for 20 years at different locations. I'm not that lucky in hitting the knowledgeable employees at those stores.
