Nope. My wife and kids get the shot every year but I haven't in 10+ years.

Some of these statistics being thrown around are a bit puzzling, eg: "60% of people who get the flu shot get the flu anyway" or some such. What? Really? Obviously some people do get it anyway because a different flu strain pops up. It happened to my wife this year. I get the feeling that most who say "no never!" have not come to that conclusion from reading peer-reviewed medical journals and weighing the evidence. They either don't like shots or just reject the whole idea of vaccinations for other reasons. That's fine of course, your body, your decision. I get the flu shot every year and have not had the flu or a bad reaction. It will be especially important going forward for me because I've been diagnosed with a progressive neuromuscular disease, and the medication to treat it weakens my immune system.

Point of the story.....if there really is one
Who knows whats right anymore? They change their prescriptions, protocols, and directions when the pharmaceutical companies tell them to. Yeah, I don't trust those guys (big pharma). But what are you going to do? At some point you just have to make a decision based off of a certain level of trust and just some good common sense and judgement sometimes. I'm 57, in decent shape, fairly good overall health, and don't get sick very often. Its worked for me so far.

A week later I was at my docs office for something else and told him about the shrapnel and he said I needed one if it had been more than 5 years. I ended up getting one there. Apparently the doctors can't even keep up with the changes.

“ A clean object does not have dirt, soil, spit, or feces on it. You will need a tetanus shot if: Your wound was caused by something that was clean and your last tetanus shot was longer than 10 years ago. Your wound was caused by something that was dirty and your last tetanus shot was longer than 5 years ago.”
