I'll echo a few other posters. It's funny how so many TBHer's think they know more than medical doctors yet they probably had a hard time passing high school biology. I'll continue to seek medical advice from MD's, just like I seek legal advice from attorneys, tax advice from CPAs and so on.
I take advice from my doctor too but I also do not just go blindly by what someone who gets paid to sell shots says I should do. I tend to make decisions based on experience. I took the flu vaccine for the first time in 1996 when my employer offered it for free. Got the flu that year. First time I ever remember having it. I will admit I may have had it when I was a child but I don't remember it if I did. I didn't take the vaccine again until 2013 and only had the flu once without it. In 2013 I let my doctor (medical expert) convince me I should take it so I did. I had the flu twice that season and the second round was horrible. I haven't taken the vaccine since and haven't had the flu since. My track record is better without the shot.
I wash my hands a lot during flu season (and really all year long to keep the habit alive) and I disinfect and clean my shared work station at work before I sit down to start my shift everyday and I keep my face out of other peoples faces. Pretty much same thing I do for Covid.
Immunizations are a totally different animal. I take those as they have a proven track record.

As long as I’ve been getting the shot I’ve only gotten the flu once and it was so mild it was no worse than a cold.
The one year we couldn’t get the shot due to a shortage I got the flu and it knocked me down for seven days. Absolute misery.
I believe they help prevent catching the flu and if you encounter a strain that the shot doesn’t cover it helps reduce the symptoms.

I was a never get the shot / never had the flu guy until last year. 3 years ago I got the flu twice. Once year after. All were horrible. Got the shot last year and didn’t get the flu. Did it help? Who knows. I will take the 50% chance the vaccine helps. I’m not the smartest man in the world but that’s better odds than 0%.
