    Gun/ ammunition craze

Buddy of mine goes to gun shows as a hobby. He goes to buy older S&W law enforcement guns. In the process he has acquired a bunch but is always has a table and sells all kinds of stuff. Grips, boxes, some guns whatever. Well I’m moving and had some stuff I sent with him. I had a 900 case of 9mm and two 420 can of 556 penetrator. Just some stuff that didn’t make it to storage. He called on Friday and said another vender gave him $1k for the ammunition. He said he could have thrown it on the table and sold it all separate but knew I would be good with what the vender offered.

He is going to another show in two weeks and I think I’m gonna go and sell a lot of extra ammunition and a few pistols. He said put boxes of Herters out for $10 a box and 100 boxes of ball 9mm for $50 and I will sale everything I bring. He also said throw bricks of 22 out for $50 and they will go like hotcakes. I kept all this around for my kids but dropping my youngest off Monday for college. I bought bulk of all three for my kids to shoot. They both shot a bunch. I bought a lot of all when I did buy. Like a pallet when it was delivered years ago. I told him I felt guilty gouging people. He said I’ll be by far the cheapest at the show.

Should I feel guilty selling at these prices?

I may just have him sell it and give him $100 bucks or so.

Free market buddy. Make money how you can. If you have it and the are willing to pay what you want so they can have it then no guilt should be felt.

      Nope.

People complain when they do not buy when prices are low and then they need ammo. You can hoard and sell zero or sell and help the supply side. That's the way I'd look at it.

If I could sell some easily I would I have 50k rounds probably. I got a little carried away.

If I find a buyer I may sell enough to pay for the next tuna trip and send my son.

        Glen...9 & 5.56 are running .60ea - .70ea in the current market.

I would have tripped over my wallet to give $1k for that lot.

My French secretary, been American for some time now, started packing a pistol now with her entire church group of friends. Crazy how gun ownership is booming, a great thing.

If you feel bad about selling it for the current going rate then I’d say offer it here at what you paid or normal prices pre COVID because there’s tons of guys who’d love to have it like myself to shoot.

If you can get that fairly, then go for it. It's either a buyer's market. Or a seller's market, at all times, just like the stock market. When this is all over, you can buy again. And wait till the next surge. Or just keep it all and shoot it all.

Your buddy left a good bit of money on the table with the penetrator and 9mm but it was probably the easiest way to do it. I had 2 tables at a small show last week and sold 2,000 rounds of penetrator 855 for .70 per round and ball 9mm for $25 per box. And I was the cheapest there. Guy near me sold several cases of steel .223 and 9mm for close to a buck a round! I sold 100 round boxes of .22LR for $10 and overheard more than one guy say, "at least it isn't 50 bucks a brick like back in '13."
I sold a lot to wives who were sent out by their husbands (who were out at different venues) and the gals were describing stuff on my table to them over the phone and I could hear the guys saying, " grab all you can." It was very crazy.

You aren’t setting the market, it is worth what someone will pay. There is a reason you bought a pallet when you did.

Well I'm gonna go with him and help out in a few weeks. I guess Ill go to my storage and grab everything that was just sitting in my safe collecting dust that I don't carry anymore and also everything that was in my ammunition pallet that I don't feel like moving again.

I use to enjoy going to Gun Shows but can't remember the last Gun Show I went to ...

Because they sell used guns for more than new gun prices and act like an accumulation of Pawn Shops .. All about the $

Enjoy them and that's your choice but I will not go and be a part of this .....

If someone is willing to overpay right now for ammo I wouldn’t feel bad at all selling it if they are wanting to pay your asking price.
