This is minor compared to what folks are going through today in the hurricane but I

wanted to followup on my recent hospital stay in late June/ early July, since several folks have been asking me..

Got a colonoscopy to look at the perforation healing and because at 51, I was due one anyway. Doc said perforation healed really well and was a very minor hole for all the problems it caused. Said no surgery required.... Found a few polyps but he said they looked harmless. He grabbed them and will send it off but said I shouldn't have anything to worry about. Man I was not expecting that kind of good news with the way 2020 has gone! Thank you Lord. As he walked out, he said, this is no reason to quit that diet either or you could end up back in the hospital for something else. I told him no worries doc....that ain't happening. Down 39 lbs as of this morning...

On a side note if you are due a colonoscopy, go get one. It could save your life. They have made big strides in the prep area, which most folks say is the worst part. Two 6 oz bottles and 10 oz of water each and its done. Follow both up with 32 oz of cold water . Tastes like a grape popsicle and was easy as hell. The result wasn't bad either if you follow their eating directions.....and the exam was a piece of cake. Little juice in the IV and you are waking up in recovery.

Great news Smart! God is good! Yes, got it done and the prep was a cake walk. Not a bit uncomfortable. Dulcolax and then later with a mirolax/gatorade cocktail. Crazy easy and with the awesome sleeping juice, an awesome nap and done. Don't delay guys. Way too easy to avoid the colon ca.

Hahahaha how long a day do you have?..

Seriously though....Its all kinds of jacked up with what I had to eat to not overwork my colon. The low residue style diet is everything you have been told not to eat when on a diet..(white rice, white bread, mashed potatoes and pasta.) The biggest thing that helped me was my portions were cut into 1/3s. That made a significant difference in everything I can and do eat. Secondly, no sugars (including BlueBell) ....none! Thirdly, no fast food unless it involves grilled chicken or now a salad. Now that this part is over, I'll be dropping the low residue diet that included the white rice, white bread, mashed potatoes and pasta (in very small portions) and go back to more green vegetables in their place with the same meat. If i do stray with say some pinto beans or pasta portions will be small. And of course, continue walking and working like hell in this heat, revamping my yard and house..... and then sweating like a mad dog at the deer and pig lease. Just staying active.

Congrats on the weight loss. I agree with you on the importance of getting a colonoscopy. I went in for one in July. It had been 10 years since the last time and the "liquid plumber" stuff was much easier to choke down than I remembered.

Great news, Jason! I've got my 5-year follow-up colonoscopy coming up in February. Don't be shy, boys, it's a piece of cake and if you're 50+, GET ONE.
