Look into hunting FT Hood , great hunting and you are free or get a discount for being a veteran . They have the guided rifle hunts or you can choose an area and set it up for bow hunting . Go to the sportsman’s center to get more info .

God bless each and everyone of you who have responded with support, prayers, and offers to help. I am so very grateful for the kindness and thoughtfulness of the members of the TBH community.

If there is a bright spot in all of this, it's that I'm so very surprised, and proud of the way that my young son, Thomas, has stepped up and responded to this whole situation. This is a lot to put on anyone's shoulders, and he has responded with great poise and strength. No matter what happens to me, my wife and I are comfortable in knowing we have raised a fine young man.

Thomas is a very shy, very introverted guy, but he's also my best buddy and hunting partner. One of the best features of the lease we just lost was that it was located only 15 minutes from our home. That meant Thomas could come and go to the lease as he wished to work on the lease, and spend time by himself to decompress from all of this stress resulting from my illness.

I know the odds are against us finding a lease that meets our needs this late in the year, but I remain hopeful something will come up. Alternatively, we are going to look at some places that offer day hunts so that he might be able to at least get a few hunts in this season. I'm also going to look into entering him into the drawn hunts close to home as some of you have suggested.
