Blacktip is excellent eating, I notch the tail and bleed them out right when I catch them then gut them and put them on ice. I skin them and cut out the cartilage and any blood lines. Grind up the meat with some bell pepper and onions and season with some cajun seasoning make them into patties then cook them in a skillet in some olive oil. Thats some good eating right there!

            irony.....

I caught one around 5 foot a month or so ago and it was good. We didnt gut or bleed it for a few hours. I mean it wasnt crappie or trout but it was better than white bass

Shark you have to bleed, then gut and ice immediately. You treat it right and it is some of the best fish there is to eat, especially on the grill. I don’t keep many because I don’t catch many, but I will keep one when I catch it.

Yeah like I said previously I don’t think the guide took care of them properly and I didn’t know better then.

                  I’ll give it another try.

                    ^^^THIS^^^

I like to cut the tail off and keep water going over the gills so they pump out as much blood as possible.

Lots of ways to fix it and all good if it is handled right when it is caught.

Yeah my first experience was from a "head boat" many years ago, snotty smelly creatures with that weird odor just couldn't stomach it. Avoided eating sharks many years but loved beach shark fishing. We finally had to eat a Blacknose and it wasn't even ours, camp next to us came down to ask for an ID then tried to release it in front of our camp, tossed it in and said oh well. We blead it out and grilled steaks that night and it was amazeballs.
