Looking for estimate or guess as to the price to replace central AC in a 900 square foot cabin. The AC that is there blows fairly cold but seems like I can't keep the temp down in the house during the day. Last time I had it serviced they said that it uses the old refrigerant and I might be better off to replace. Looking for a ball park figure. Just outside of Franklin, Texas. Thanks.

You can do the mini-splits, but people tend to abuse them like they are window units, set them crazy cold, not clean filters, etc. If you go this route, definitely have them cleaned 1-2x per year.

The outdoor unit isn’t level, no line set cover, no disconnect, thermostat only reads in Celsius, zero warranty, and the dude that installed it wore flip flops and worked out of a ‘97 civic.
But hey, it was cheap!
A good quality unit installed correctly with warranty is typically going to be 3-5k per zone around these parts.
