Really helps the people like me who have put in for 10+ years and never been drawn. Too many people able to get unlimited picks. Needs to go back to 1 per category. Seems every year someone posts that he drew more than 1 hunt on the same date and has to decide which one to go on....
Loyalty points are being cubed starting this year to get high point holders drawn.
First year applying = 1 point = 1 chance.
Third year =3 points = 27 chances
Fifth year = 5 points = 125 chances
Tenth year = 1000 chances
and so on... really screws over folks in their first few years of applying.
Not sure I agree with it screwing anyone. It only takes one chance and unlike the old way they drew at Hagerman where the higher PP would eventually guarantee you a spot this TPWD way does nothing of the sort
And BTW, if it is screwing over the first time applicants then define what they have been doing to those who have been applying for 5years? 10yrs?

Well I did not know they were being cubed but I am glad they are for me. This is my 8th year to put in and I’ve never drawn.
I love reading all the different views on the cubing of points. We are not all going to agree on this issue.
I believe it is fair for the guys with plenty of points. I dont have tons of points, but I put in for hunts that not a lot of people do, so my chances of a hunt are good, but the hunt is usually bad. I will stop putting in for so many and pick one in each category. Time to build points not that they are worth so much more.
I currently have 13points in quite a few categories. I’ve only ever drawn for 1 archery hunt and 1 javelina hunt. I’ve been putting in for them and never got drawn. I am hoping the cubing helps.
I feel like cubing is a little extreme. I would have been more happy with squaring. This feels like it will result in basically a “point creep” situation that other states have. There are so few actual drawn hunters compared to applicants. This will definitely result in higher point holders to be drawn more often which is fine, but I don’t see how people just getting in the game will have any chance moving forward.
I feel very fortunate to have drawn a few nice hunts with lower point totals up to now.
