    Privacy fencing pricing question......

Recently (less than 3 years) I had both sides of my privacy fence replaced because my neighbors wanted it re-done. My rear neighbor didn't want to split that section so I put it off and now just need to get it done. Not looking to get the best available like cedar, since we are planning on being out of here in the next 3-4 years. I'm looking at 6" treated with 6' fence like my sides were done and I'll stain. I am going to go with steel poles replacing these wooden ones. I was just quoted $25.5 per foot and I though that was kind of high. Its dang sure higher than what I paid for my sides that are longer a few year ago.

Tell me what I need to know......too high? about right? I'm in the Denton area.

    That’s about 1.50 high imo

Just paid about $38.00 a foot for a high quality privace fence with #2 cedar. 2/3rds of it is 7 foot tall...

Do NOT used TREATED pickets...they will warp badly within a year. For that short of a section, go cedar. ALL material is a little higher now. I did mine 125 ft for about $22/ft and did wood post set on 6' centers with 3 - 2 x 4 rail and a 2x6 rot board then stepped up to 8ft pickets and 4 rails for about 80 ft run. I paid my BIL to do a lot of work but I trimmed out the cap and will do the stain myself. I used 6" pickets. That was buying at big box store prices in May/June.

I can tell you lumber is up drastically over the last 45 to 60 days. I buy syp and between lumber costs rising and freight rising, some prices are up 40%. 4 x 4 - 8' #2 is currently at record high prices and treaters can't get enough supply.

I am a pool builder in the Houston area and I pay my guy $22.50/ft for 6' pine stained or $17.50/ft unstained. $25.50/ft unstained would be considered high to me but I'm not familiar with pricing in your area

21-23 a foot depends on if there is tear down too.

There is a tear down but really, you could blow on this thing and it might fly in the air to his trailer...

and he wanted a $200 dump fee

Thank you...I'm thinking I need to some more quotes....

This was a handyman who came highly recommended by a buddy so I was hoping not to screw with multiple quotes

$32.00/ft is what we just paid a month ago. 260', 2x12 rot board on the bottom with 8' cedar pickets with a 2x6 top cap trimmed with 1x2s

I am actually in the fence business, right now treated wood (especially 4”x4”) have major shortages, wood fence right now will be anywhere from 4 to 6 dollars higher per foot. If you can hold out a couple of months you will save.

I got him down where I was more comfortable. He claimed calculation issue and he "had cedar priced in there"...

He showed up on my door step with $23/ft with tear down and haul-off....and he's going to install my new back door for $125 which is cheaper than the guy I have used before.

It is laying over rotten in a spot and my neighbors have a dog so I need to do it now. Wasn't like that the last weekend but I guess it finally said we done! Thanks for the info
