    Shooting help

Starting to get my practice in (after a long time of not shooting) with my bow for my upcoming elk trip. My question for you experts is I’m consistently shooting low right, I am betting it’s me not the bow (not sure yet) so what should I change in my form before I change the sights? At 30 yards I’d say I’m 2-5” low and 2-5” right. Over all about 3-5” off from bullseye.

I’m no expert, and could use some help on my form as well.
But using process of elimination, if you’re shooting low right, have you tried aiming high left?
Also, just curious, are you a lefty or righty?

I’m right handed, I have tried to purposely aim high left (not exaggerating too much) and it doesn’t make a big difference. It’s really consistent too.

Polish the Indian. Remember the basics. Anchor and follow through. Consistency and repition. Maybe your trying to see were you hit before you hit it. I wouldn't move pins yet but that's just me and I don't know much.

My guess is draw length issue.. Probably dl short with a high front shoulder causing you to creep down on the target ..

Follow thru. You're looking for the arrow at release is my guess

All good input, my measured draw length is 27.5 and the bow is set up for 29” so it’s a little longer than I need but I can shoot it no problem. So I don’t think it’s draw length related. I have really focused hard on after shooting holding my finish and even when doing that it’s still low. I’ll keep practicing from 20 yards for a few more days but if it stays there I’m moving it. If I use my 30 yard pin at 20 yards I hit about 1-2” high so I think the bow may be a little off maybe.

How’s your grip? Are you death gripping it? Remember to always keep the grip on the pad of your thumb and away from the lifeline on your hand. Just less torque you can impart on the shot. Especially if you’re consistently low right.

man If my DL is more than 1/8" off I cant shoot my best.. So good luck with shooting 1.5" long

Couple of things. With your draw 1.5 inches too long how the heck are you getting your anchor point right?

And when you say “you’re moving it”. Have you not already tried just moving your pins yet?

You might can shoot with the draw length too long, but you can’t shoot correctly. And you may have some target panic, stand about 5 yards from the target and work on your form some.

When I start having a little target panic issues I switch to a back tension release for a few days. But it sounds like yours is more set up.

Need to get that draw length shortened. You are losing your consistency with a halfassed setup. Accuracy is about consistency.... consistency starts with your bow setup right and tuned.

Just echoing all good feed back here,
                            1. Fix draw length
                            2. Check form (shoulders low)
                            3. Loosen your grip to eliminate bow torque
                            4. Follow through- focus on bullseye untill your arrow impacts.
                            5. Practice.
                            6. Lower you draw weight untill form and accuracy is perfect.
