About the same. Don't know about the extension though. I've been at work, so haven't kept up.
But next year, we gotta get the team together and meet up in my neck of the woods mid June.
Landed 5 and left them biting. Same time last year, had more runs than I could count

What’s the general thought on using a rod with rollers on the beach?

Not the best idea.
To much sand that could get in it and seize the roller.
(This is what I've heard from the long time beach fisherman)
