Texas surf shark fishing thread

My 16 year old son is asking to go surf shark fishing but I sold all my gear before he was even born. My dad has a place right on Lavaca Bay. Are there sharks in Lavaca?

I haven't targeted sharks per se, but I did catch this one a number of years ago, right behind the Alcoa area (actually in Cox bay).
I don't know the best spots for sharks if you don't have a boat,but have heard that the Big Jetties in POC as well as Mud Point (entrance to Keller bay from Lavaca Bay) are some areas frequented by shark fisherman. So they are out there.

My big kid caught some decent ones two weeks ago on cast baits. I'll scroll up and see if I posted his Sandbar sharks from the spring time, some barrel chested beefy sharks, also on cast baits.
