I was told the Yamaha and Merc were identical engines, what rpms is he pushing to cruise 46?

Yamaha and Merc are not identical. Which two models are you hearing are identical? I can't even think of any that are close.

Let me clarify, you can expect identical performance out of their 4 strokes, one has slightly better hole shot and the other has a bit more top end.

The Verado has a good lead on the rest. They are stout. The Yamaha, Merc 4 stroke and Suzuki are very close to one another. Tohatsu/Honda are trailing the pack.

Those motors are nothing but trouble from the guys I have talked to running them.

There is a reason all the boats are running g quad and quint mercs now. We don’t see them as much here but in Florida there are a stupid amount of boats running quad merc 450s.
