    Repowering boat

Thinking about repowering my boat, looking at 250-300 Yamaha four stroke, any boat motor salesman on the green screen?

I dont know what you have now, but I will be selling my 2019 Yamaha V-MAX SHO 175HP in a month or so. Has ~24 hours on the motor. Had the 20 hour service complete in January or February. Has 5 years left on the warranty and is transferable. Only selling to get the 250 that I should have bought when we bought the boat. The 175 will put our Tritoon to 35 mph, loaded down with gear and 9 people on board. It has a 14 pitch power prop that I will keep but if we had a 17 or 19 pitch prop, I bet we could get to 42-44 mph. WOT is 35 mph at 5400 rpm. Just thought I'd throw it out there. I don't know what you are putting it on, but I bet a bass boat with a 22 or 24 pitch prop would get it.

Thanks, but I’m replacing a 225 on a 24’ ranger bay and I need more hp.

Rumor is that availability is about to be an issue again for the 300 yam but I don't know that for fact.

Good luck on making that barge go faster.

Just curious OP...I have a 24’ nautic with a 250 merc. How fast will that ranger run now. In perfect conditions mine will only get to 52mph. Most of the time it’s 50 wide open.

Gotcha...I have been told by a few folks it will take a 300 yami 4 stroke to do what the 250 merc 2 stroke would do. Didn’t know if you have heard the same or if that was even true?My dad has a 200 yami 4 stroke on a 22’ nautic and he can run 46-48. He has had really good luck with his.

I was told the Yamaha and Merc were identical engines, what rpms is he pushing to cruise 46?

My pants moved. I'd love to see that motor in action.

Not sure on that. Need to check.
