    Windmill Solar Pumps

I am looking at drilling a couple new water wells, and putting them on solar pumps. Fixed power is not an option.

For anyone in the know, what can i expect to pay for each well - drilled, cased, equipped with quality solar equipment/pumping equipment?

(All in cost for it to be operational and flowing into the water trough)

The wells in my area are producing from the Edwards/Trinity aquifer at around 150' TD. Most were drilled in the 1960's, so reports are dated.

Also any brand recommendations on the panels would be appreciated.
We are West of San Angelo, so any recommendations for San Angelo area water well drillers would be appreciated as well.

Thanks in advance for the feedback.

I have a couple both were at about 100 feet both ran about 10K for all equipment etc. both put out about 14 gallons per minute awesome investment i will never regret.

Cost will depend on the depth and the casing etc. all others are somewhat fixed and when I did this it was 10 years ago so pricing may have come down now that solar is more available

Call Southwest Texas Solar in Eldorado and tell them Jason Rose sent you. Ronnie and Tracy will take good care of you and they are local. Good folks and have forgotten more about water pumping than I’ll ever know.

SWTX Solar offers solar energy technologies using the sun to generate electricity to power water pumps in remote areas to provide water for livestock and other applications.

I would highly recommend using a Grundfos SQFlex pump.
It is specifically designed for off grid solar application and can run off of a wide range of nominal voltages. This means you don’t have to have full amperage from the solar panel before it starts running. It will still run in low light / low voltage situations.

Agreed on the Grundfos, great system. Can’t get the video to post.

Yep, Grundfos. That’s what they’ll quote you... the SQ Flex series. Been selling them for 25+ years.

Really wouldn’t be a windmill solar pump. Windmill works off of wind.

You are looking for a water well solar pump

                        Bringing this back up -

Anyone have a water well driller in the San Angelo area they would recommend? I need to have a well drilled & solar finish out done, on my Irion county place. Also need two drilled on a ranch near Bronte.

The company I used for the wells I drilled in 2020 are back way up.

Also any recent pricing? The last ones were $25/foot from what I remember.

                            Thanks

That's who did my first 3 wells. I am waiting on call backs, but seems they are pretty backed up and my 1 well job might not be worth the trip. Just looking for options.

I just did a 300 ‘ solar well in Brown Co.
Drilling was $25/ft. Cased and ready to be completed.
The solar completion was about the same cost $6K more or less.
The well took forever to get scheduled, but Steve Harris out of Comanche really did a great job putting the pump and solar panel/switch on my well. Only 4-5 gallons a minute, but good for my cows. I poured my own concrete slab and bought my tank and plumbed that myself.

Like above poster, I will never regret the decision
