PS: this ain't gonna fit in no backpack
I've had mine about 12 to 15 years. If you don't put them up wet or let mice chew them up they may last two life times!

Thanks guys, really appreciate the feedback. Primary uses will be elk / deer hunts in Colorado with pretty good access to camp sites either by truck or UTV so with that said, sounds like a canvas would be better than synthetic. Good info on the additional doors and windows. We used old 6 sided army tents last year and it was so cold having an opening didn't even cross our minds but I'm sure would be nice to have in warmer conditions.

In terms of size, I'm looking to get one that comfortably sleeps 4 guys with room for gear. Is the 14x16 big enough to hold everything or would you recommend a 16x20?

I had a Davis that served me well for several years. Sold it because it was taking up too much space, and hadn’t been used in a couple years. Wish I’d have kept it now.

I would ask you Kodiak canvas guys if those tents can take a snow like this ? All this 18+ inches fell overnight. The wall tent was just fine.
16x20 will be huge, get the 14 x 16 with the eave opening for a cooking awning or add on. At least 1 window opposite the door will help with ventilation.
The wall tent will take a couple of guys to set up and take down, Kodiak Canvas tents are very friendly for 1 person to set up.

Davis is great to work with.

Another vote for Davis. I went with the 16x20 and it is huge. I can set it up by myself pretty easily but it’s more than enough even for 4 people. The floor and tent bag are must haves imo.

Davis 15' x 18' with window here love it! probably had it close to 20 years now.

Skip the wood stove and take propane. Trust me.

When we bought ours the guy told us he has never had someone call back and say they wish they had bought a smaller tent. I think the 15'x18' is perfect, I would go at least that big or bigger.

Based on the above, Davis is leading the pack...what's the thought floors? Do you guys have the zip in floor that is an option with the Davis tent or do you just use tarps? Any advantage to one over the other?

I have a detached floor with a zipper cut out for a wood stove. I guess it’s just a heavy duty tarp cut to size but I’m happy I have it.

I have (2) Davis tents and love them both. We have used them in the mountains in January when the lows get down in the close to 0 degrees and 8"-10" of snow and in Mid-August hunting mule deer. These tents are great!!!

I'm not sure, never had much of a snow load but I wouldn't be scared to try. 50mph winds and small hail wasn't an issue I can attest to that

If I was looking for something to handle snow loads regularly, I’d go wall tent for sure. I know they will handle snow, but you’d need to keep an eye on them. Or guy out a tarp over them.

I’d love a 14x16 wall tent, but for my needs right now a Flex Bow can’t be beat.

And as to the size, if you got the disco-bed bunk beds, a 14x16 would be plenty big. If you’re all sleeping on single bunks, it might get tight so you’d need to set up sizes by a few feet each way. A stove and gear eats a bunch of floor space.

Get a rain fly, the snow slides right off and it really helps keep everything dry.
We just use a couple of tarps for a floor and got one of those lightweight tarps to tie up out front for shade.
Wood stove here , no condensation issues and plenty of wood to be found up here, we always have a chainsaw anyway up in the mountains.

Snowing here now, setting up to get several inches of wet, heavy snow. Great for the mountains and the hay meadows.

14x16 will comfortably sleep 4 guys with their gear. 16x20 would be more comfortable. It was just my brother and I on the last trip and it was like we were in a motel lol. We've slept 6 in the 14 x 16 with the stove but it was way too tight but we made it work for a week. More weight and footprint size are really the only negatives besides cost of the bigger tents. Some areas don't have a ton of flat ground so finding a big flat spot can be an issue when setting up.

Our set up is the 14 x 16 Davis. We got the eve sleeves and extra angles and have a 10' awning off the front where we keep our cooking stove, table, dry boxes of food, drinks, etc... We have a tarp that covers the whole tent and extends 10' out for the awning. We use an old tarp for the floor inside the tent. Keeps the dust down.

Sounds like LWC has a the set up you need.
We use a 12x14 for the 2 of us and it's just right. Wood stove and cooking stove and 2 cots fit perfect.
16x20 might just have the space for cooking in the main tent but get the eave sleeves for an awning.
