I have never seen a dry creek bed used as a travel route for long, they are crossed parallel by many trails and if you can find a good crossing that would be good. The stock tank could be good but critters are often skittish there knowing they are vulnerable and often drink in the dark hours. Tough call but I choose a well used trail crossing a dry river bed.

Can you set it on the trail from the dry creek that leads to the stock tank?

I absolutely can. They are within 150 yards of each other.

Is the weather wet or dry? Can I get in or out of either with the wind blowing away from the direction they will likely come? Best cover? Corn pile?

De Leon, TX, not super dry. Creek bed is closer to feed, on the way to cover and the stock tank is in between the creek bed and a bedding area.
