Tore my bicep tendon. Anyone else done this?

Moving some tile to the garage and it popped. Had the MRI yesterday. Waiting on the orthopedist to see what’s next.

My dad tore his bicep skiing a few years back. Depends on what kind of shape your in but he is in good shape and had a good recovery after his surgery. Still is quiet a process though. Good luck, hope everything goes well.

I did, along with part of my bicep and my rotator cuff. I was supposed to have surgery then this covid mess came up. Now looking at late summer.

I did it 20 years ago carrying too many sheets of plywood at one time, just lifted them up, my arm straightened, and I heard the 'pop' as well. I tore the sticky part of the bicep muscle off the bone at my elbow and had immediate searing pain. The muscle balled up and relocated on my upper arm bone. It was painful for a little time and I couldn't use it for awhile but then over time I got better. Still, when I make a 'muscle' now my right arm is normal and my left is a ball. Never saw a doctor about it.

Off the shoulder joint or elbow? I've had both shoulders done (cuffs and labrum tears) with biceps repair on both. One was at the elbow, one at the shoulder. Either is a relative simple surgical procedure, just follow the rehab schedule and don't be a hero (stupid) returning back to normal function.

I'm six months out from my most recent surgery and probably at 90%, still a few things I avoid- no BJJ rolling, no super heavy curls, etc. I'm 100% from the first surgery, never think about it, zero limitations. I followed the PT rehab protocol religiously.

They'll stretch it back out and re attach. Probably 4-6 weeks in a sling, couple of months of rehab, you'll be good to go. Great orthopod and PT are the keys. Good luck!

My buddy tore his last year, he was in pretty good shape and it took him about three months to fully recover.

I tore my bicep, Rotator cuff and Labrum. Had surgery on all of it at once. Worst pain I have ever endured but at 53 years old, shoulder is better than it has been in five years!. Couldn't repair my bicep, just trimmed it up a bit. Have a Popeye muscle now. Good luck and one piece of advice, "Do the therapy!" I was shooting my bow in four months when the doctor told me it would be 9 months to a year.

I agree. I’ve had enough surgeries to know that rehabbing is the most important part.

That sucks. The longer you wait on repairing tendons the harder the repair.

I screwed mine up in August and could no longer deal with the pain and just had a MRI done today.

Follow up is Wednesday for results but the doc said on Wednesday hes 90% sure its torn. Or i have a large case of Pussitus so we shall see

I tore mine off at the right elbow, filling feeders last August. I un hooked the trailer from my truck and drove myself to the hospital. My bicep was on top of my shoulder and they had to pull it down with some big needle nose pliers and they drove a drywall screw in my forearm bone and wrapped the tendon around it. It sucked. Old Sawbones said he fixed many of them but mine was pretty bad, he got pictures of it on his phone.

They numbed my arm right good and it wore off in about a day, only thing about a numb arm is when you go to pizz, it feels like someone else is holding yer peebug.

I never did take them pain pills and I was supposed to wear that sling and brace deal. I wore it for three weeks and threw the stinkin thing in the trash, prolly could have used it for catfish bait. I went back once or twice to the doc and never did go back. I pulled the stitches out my self and did them exercise tricks for a while. I was shooting my bow about 6 weeks after the surgery. It still hurts at times when I twist my arm in certain way, but I slung 30 bags of deer corn, 25 bags of protein and 6 bags of range cubes last Saturday morning. My arm never did hurt but my nuts did.

All joking aside, I am about 85% with it and wished I never did it. My arm wont never be as good as before.

I tore my bicep and tendon lifting a stupid Tire out of the pick up. Sounded like a 22 going off. That was on a Thursday before Friday the 4th. Went to the Dr on Monday and had surgery on Wed. Part of the tendon went down to my thumb and the other behind my shoulder. Biceps up around the top of shoulder. Took forever for the Doc to fish them out. Woke up in an Arm cast!!! My ex and Dr both agreed that I would re-tear if I was just left in a sling. They were probably right. Was in that thing for 6 weeks then a big fancy looking brace for another 6 weeks. Talk about miserable my gosh did my arm stink when that cast came off. Rehab wasn't all that bad. Was shooting my bow by Nov.
