Never had one from muddy waters so may be a difference critter.
When I was a kid we would hammer the in the Colorado river around LaGrange. we kept all of them and the big ones seemingly tasted as good as the small ones.

As a kid, the first fish I ever caught on a plastic worm was a fresh water drum. Put it on the stringer and later on the dinner plate fried in cornmeal. Ate just fine. Never caught another one that way.

          Cut into chunks.
          Put on jug lines.

Turn 1 gaspergoo into 12 blue cats. They eat great!

              They are good eating though.

Winner but use the little ditch crawfish. The big red ones you should be eating don't work as well.

they also like liver. Most of mine come from fishing liver for hybrid stripers. And a dead spot tail river minnow works. Tried shrimp thinking they would love it. No bites. The liver rods bent. Shrimp nada.

Yep. Never purposely fished for them but have eaten my share mixed in with the crappie, catfish and sandbass.

                            Goo is better than catfish.

Meat is just like redfish. Can't tell the difference when blackened.
