Hmmmm. After looking at the Kobalt, I'm having an internal argument with myself.
Do I give up the "name brand" and rack and pinion fence for $300-350?

Even on a good table saw, I double check fence parallel before doing a "serious" rip.

I have the Kobalt and for household projects it’s been great. My only main complaint was the finish of the deck. The metal was not smooth to my standards so I took some wet/dry sand paper and started at 220 and went up to 400. Finished it off with a polish and it’s a night and day difference on how the wood slides across. Took maybe 30 min to do this and well worth it. No where near cabinet grade, but my family has a cabinet shop with a dewalt cabinet saw in it for any jobs that require that.

          Thanks for input.
I really don't think ANY small table saw is "cabinet grade".

Anybody have any experience with track saws?

            Viable alternative?

I'm using a friends saw right now and it has been amazing. It's a Hitachi and is the best thought out saw that I've seen. Table extensions store on side of saw as well as fence and push piece. I've had no problem with the fence lining up. It has a 5th leg that you put down as a brace when ripping longer boards so if the saw tilts, the leg stops it from going over.

I just bought the Kreg accu-cut XL. It is just the track that you attach your own circular saw to the sled. I used it yesterday to cut some 2 inch thick cedar slabs. I lost about 3/4 inch of depth on the saw blade using this. My saw can cut up to 2 1/2 inches deep without using the track but only 1 3/4 inches deep with it. This setup will do well on sheets of plywood or any other wood that isn’t more than the depth of the saw minus that 3/4 inch.

I’m going to buy a table saw for other projects I have lined up.

If you are buying a table saw for home use why does it need to be portable? if you buy a good quality stationary saw it will be better than any portable.

tracksaws are great for cutting plywood, especially if cutting whole sheets. but not as versatile as a table saw.
