First 2 boats I had, I put stern mount TMs on the front. Loosen the setscrew that holds the head on, turn head around. Mount it on home made bracket on the front. I used 4" angle aluminum for the bracket. Not real pretty but it worked and was considerably cheaper than regular bow mount.
Stern mounts are usually not as long of shaft though so watch for that on a bigger boat.

If you are going to fish for stripers/whites/hybrids you are going to want IPilot. If you are going to bass fish you are going to want foot control.
