      A SOCOM can not push a 500 gr. bullet anywhere near that fast. A SOCOM won't push a 300 gr. bullet that fast. A 45-70 with some hot loads in a good strong rile, such as a Ruger Number 1, ECT. I think you can get a 500 gr. bullet close to or actually achieve 2300 fps. The common 45-70 loads are very similar in performance to a 458 SOCOM, but if you have a rifle that will handle the pressure, the 45-70 can be loaded a lot hotter.

            I bet the Lott can be loaded significantly hotter than 2350 with 500s but I’m not going to do it!. From the bench/blind it is about all I care to handle!
