Coachwhips are cool - I like the way they raise their head up and cruise along with about 1/3rd of their body length off the ground

Yikes. I would’ve probably landed on top of the camper.

I'm in the camp of burn down the farm. I hate snakes with a passion.

Stepped on a huge coach whip once on accident.

He struck straight up in the air, trying to bite me in my face.
And I hurt my shoulder trying to get off him.

              Coachwhips are not cool.
              They’re *******s.

Coach whip and a racer are the same thing. They are usually called red racers, when they are a pinkish color, when they are black or brown, they are typically called coach whips. Same snake different color. Your identification of it being a racer was correct.

I laughed out loud at this.

Do coach whips ever get aggressive or come after you? Suckers are faster than all get out.

I've heard of yellow bellied racers and coachwhips chasing people. I've never had one chase me but then again I've never ran from one either. I've chased a lot of them down though. They get aggressive when you catch them. And they will go for your face when you have then by the tail a lot of times. If you handle them for a little while they'll calm down and you can handle them freely.

Coachwhips will play dead too. I've only seen one do it but I've heard other people say they've seen it too.

I've caught more coachwhips under people's houses and in their cellars than any other kind of snake. Probably been bit by more of them than any other too.

Water snakes bite like crazy and they don't quit. Bullsnakes hurt like heck when they bite. The last one that got me was only about 4 foot long but he bit the holy crap out of me out of nowhere. I believe if I'd have had a gun on me I'd have killed his ***. He got me good.
