I don't have the same camera but I found that the Moultrie solar panels wouldn't keep my batteries charged on the Moultries. I bought Monarch solar panels due to a recommendation from another TBH'er and have not had another issue.

It would be hard for me to buy anything but the Scoutguard. I just got one and it seems to be great! Here's a link to a comprehensive trail camera comparison and the Scoutguard it ranked higher than the Cuddeback.
Shop game and trail cameras for hunting, property security, and wildlife surveillance. Trailcampro offers trail cams from the top brands in the industry.

If cameras can get the kind of life out of AA's that the Scoutguard gets, and keep the cost of the camera at 200, then that will make those cameras the choice to get. I can carry a lot of AA batteries and buy them in big packs and end up saving money and saving all the weight from carrying around C's and D's. by the dozens. I'm going to wait until the 09 models come out before buying anything expensive though. I'd buy a 590 or two if I found them, but they're cheap. The battery life on the captures isn't enough to make me buy one even at around 200.

Ditto to everything you said. My experience has been the same as your's with the Stealth and the external battery. Heading to buy the Moultrie solar panel Wednesday. Hope the new Academy in Mckinney has it in stock when they open for Wednesday. Good luck.

Not sure Smart which model but I know they had the flash. A friend of my father in laws I hunted w/ in Ohio this year told me this. He had 14 of the Stealth cameras running on his farm and said he was changing batteries every 2-3 weeks. Maybe the freezing temps have something to do w/ the battery life up there.

                    Double L..

where did you find the Monarch solar panels. I'm going to buy a Scoutguard to replace my old Wildview, but the solar panel will still go on my Stealth.

Bought them here. They are higher priced than Moultrie but they get the job done.
