    Trail camera battery issue...

How long do your 12 volt rechargeable batteries last? Mine don't seem to last much more than 2 weeks. I have a Stealth Cam and the external battery pack, but the battery life is very short it seems. Also, does anyone have a solar charger hooked up to their camera and how well does it work? I've seen the Moultrie solar charger system and wonder if it is compatible with my Stealth Cam.

I'm considering buying a Scoutguard. I have read some great reviews about them and they run on AA batteries. Anyone on here a dealer?

Which Stealth? The 450 is a battery eater. Without an external battery, it won't take many pics at all. With the external, I don't get near as many pics as I do on my 590 or 540 with just internal batteries, I have 3 450's and just learned to accept the fact that they won't take as many pics.

I have both the Stealth battery that I hooked a solar panel to and the Moultrie power panel. I like the power panel better. It is easier to use and more compact. They both keep my cameras going all the time. I use them on all my Stealth cams. Hope this helps.

        I've got the 450..

I works pretty good when I have enough battery. I'm using the highest resolution setting so I'm sure that's not helping. I'm gonna try and use the Moultrie charger and see if it helps. Then later this spring/summer I'll buy one of those Scoutguards.

Yeah, the 450 take great pics and has a super flash, but it sucks batteries down quickly. A solar panel would probably help a lot.

The cuddeback batteries will last a loooooong time. I have one camera that has had the same set of batteries in it since December and it is still going strong.

Is it the new cheap one that came out last year? The other cuddebacks that I've had experience with (not mine, but with another group) wouldn't last a month on a set of batteries. That group on the Junco have about 16 or so Cuddeback experts (I think that's the model) and battery life isn't that good. For that money, there's better options

My Moultries are good for 150 night shots of pigs and coons.

All the newer models of most brands last a loooooong time....nothing special about the Cuddeback. They all have their lemons and their overachievers. The Stealth 450 is just older technology ....

Heck we had a Stealth 590 (flash) take 3500 pics and a 540IR take close to 4500 on a single set of C batteries. One of my lease members has a solar panel and rechargeable 12 volt on his 540IR and hasn't had a battery issue since he set them out last August...and we're probably averaging 1.5-2K pics a month.

My lone Moultrie I40 has taken 4500+ on a single set as well. I just changed them at the dreaded 52% level with 4552 pics even though it was still working.

Now again we've had some lemons with these but if you get a good one they are capable of some great pics and nice battery life

probably referring to the capture, I have 3 of them and they last 2 months roughly or 1000-1500 pics. But the cost of 4 batteries versus 8 c's on the stealth may even out. My stealth 540ir sometime last 2-3 months and others 1-2 months. I like the trigger on capture WAY better and I use them as my trail cameras and the stealth 590/540's are better feeder cams. Like smart said, batteries on cams these days seem to be lasting longer, but I have gotten lemons with all brands-except my 2 scoutguards, they are still churning, eventhough I dont like the night pics as well but they are doable.

I am going to try the ..

Moultrie charging panel on my battery and see how it works. That may be the answer. My old stealth takes good pics both day and night, but again the battery doesn;t last very long. And that's the 12 volt external battery. We'll see what happens.

I've heard from others that use the Stealth that they go thru batteries in about two weeks. My i40 will co 4 months on the same set of copper tops.
