That being said I am considering them... mostly because their front seats are roomier...

Vehicles aren't an investment...they're a tool. Paid it off in 3-4 years and drive it for 10 or 12...prolly more. Gonna cost you a certain amount to get somewhere. I guess it's all how you wanna get there. If you want shiny sparkly stuff with big ol curb jumpers on it then get it! I like the stripped down "work" trucks. Can't stand all that frilly electronic shat that loves to go haywire. I know the EPA has done more than their share to eph up vehicles and make em cost more!

I have had 6 Toyota's over the years and loved every one of them. What do I drive today? a 2017 Ford F350 which I also love but own it because I have a slide in truck camper and need the payload.
Unfortunately, the Tundra (owned one of them as well) has squat (and they do) for payload. If Tundra came in a true 3/4 and 1 ton configuration, I think they could own a good part of that segment market share.
I would love to have a Tacoma again (had two of those) as my daily driver/hunting and country rig but financially it makes zero sense to do that.
