I posted on another thread that my wife will sometimes go crazy with coupons and buying stuff in bulk that doesn't go bad like toilet paper. We were set a month ago for this craze.
What gets me is how fast the meats are going at the store. I wanted to smoke a brisket and couple racks of ribs but they didn't have anything there. Surely that many people can't be smoking briskets in mid March.
We've offered if any of our elderly or immune system compromised neighbors need something from the store and don't want to risk it to let us know and we'll go get it for them.

Daughter just called the wife telling her that she had been shopping this morning. Like most other stories , the store was out of TP, hand sanitizer, and a lot of food items. The clerks (who she knows) told her that everything should start getting back to normal this next week. The big distribution warehouses can't get the stuff to ALL the stores as fast as it was being sold. Time will tell.

We flew in from our Disneyworld vacation yesterday afternoon and needed groceries today.
I got to the store at 11 am. The local market basket. You could tell it got hit hard previously but had cases of water, toilet paper and paper towels. Plenty of food.
The thing that impressed me the most was people were only buying small amounts that they needed so everyone else could have what they needed. Maybe a 4 rolls of paper towels, 12 pack of tp, couple cases of water. There were no limits enforced by the store only people using common sense.
This area got hit hard by Rita, Harvey, and Imelda. Everybody knows it will be inconvenient but we will be ok.

I bet areas like yours all act similar because they’ve been through these things before. The people in towns like yours understand the importance of making sure there is enough to go around. It’s people in areas like mine that caused a gas shortage after Harvey bc everyone lost their minds and started a gas panic. Crazy times so far in 2020
