    Travertine Tile

We would like to put travertine on our porch/patio but worried about it staining. Not sure about sealer changing the color and making it slick. Anyone have experience with it?

Good morning. Anyone have travertine, especially outdoors?

I see it all of the time in back yards on patios.
The best sealant we are currently using is made by deck o seal.
Here is a patio in a yard we just installed sod in

We have our patio covered in it. We used 3cm thick and sealed it with a bulletproof sealer by Stonetech. No issues. It’s not slick either.

Does the sealant darken it or make it more slick?

I could go on for an hour. We have about 750 square feet in the den and kitchen. Our installer was an idiot.

You H A V E to float the bottom of each tile to fill in any gaps and dents. If you don't 5 years down the line you will have tons of holes on the top of the tile. We had our top dents filled in 5 years ago and we need to do it again. Will post a picture shortly.......

You are true to an extent, but a lot if that has to do with the quality of the travertine. Some is cheaper and much more prone than others.

Neither but it does make the water bead up pretty good

90% is fine or have only one or two holes. The high use areas are a problem.

Really appreciate the info and tips. I’ll do some serious research on how the install should go. My installer is an idiot too per the wife. (Me lmao)

We have it around the pool. The previous owner installed it so not sure if it’s sealed but it doesn’t seem like it. No stains or discoloring from the weather or water.

What’s the going rate to have travertine installed outside on a patio. Roughly 640 sq'

We went with a porcelain tile that looks just like travertine much more user friendly.

Does it still have a rough finish that is not slippery when wet? What was the installed price per sq'?

Not sure inside install, has some grip, not really slick but not sure if you had by a pool. It has the 4 different sizes for a nice pattern when laid out.
