I never worry about them. I turn the hide inside out while I am skinning. I have heard of Dawn with water in a spray bottle will kill them. I have not tried it.

Fleas or lice? I have seen many with ticks and lice but don't recall fleas?

flea spray. spray on, let it sit for 10-15 minutes and wash off with water. Never a problem.

Fleas and ticks. Like anything else some years worse than others.
I don't notice as many ticks or fleas on the deer I kill in East Tx as the ones I killed in La.

Maybe they aren't as bad in the piney woods as they are in the hardwoods.

Ever seen deer in water with only their head barely sticking out to get away from mosquitoes?

Strip to your skivvies and cover yourself (not the pig) with DEET. You'll be alright.

I give all mine a bath with Dawn and tire brush...Never notice any bugs after That...and they not muddy or stinky either....Bet that Pear Burner would do the trick..Just stinky burnt hair smell
